Confidentiality

The content of your sessions is entirely confidential. The only exceptions to this rule are where there is a requirement by law, a risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or where you give consent for the confidence to be broken.

I also ask that you, as my client, keep the content of our sessions private and do not use them for any other reason, unless discussed with me and my my agreement is obtained in writing.

The BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice
requires me to obtain regular supervision of my work, which is carried out within anonymous disclosure.

When talking online I will endeavour to protect the confidentiality of our communications at all times. However, when working on 'the World Wide Web', 100% confidentiality can not be guaranteed.

To protect our privacy, I keep my computer in a quiet, private room which is locked when not in use by me, and if I leave the house for a long period of time the computer is locked away. I keep a record of personal details, and these are locked in a secure filing cabinet.

Any online information is kept securely on my computer, which is password protected. Once our sessions have been completed, I move any data to disk and lock the disk securely in a filing cabinet for 3 years in case you wish to return for counselling during that time.
